Sketchbook Project

I'm participating in The Sketchbook Project which is organized by the Art House Co-Op. My theme is "In 5 Minutes...", so I decided to give myself a five minute limit per page.  It allows me to be creative and not focus so much on making everything "perfect".  So far, it's a great exercise.

This is the cover I created.  All of the clocks are set at five after, echoing my theme.

I hope I can share some completed pages in the future. :)

Nevermore.

I can't start a blog without posting some form of art.  This is an Poe inspired ATC I created a little while ago using watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, ink, and my 1940's typewriter.

I hope to update more art as this blog grows.

"Art in your Mailbox"

I thought I should make a little plug for a really neat book.

Sara Dudenhoeffer was kind enough to include a few pieces of my art in her new book: Art in your Mailbox.

The book is a "great introduction to the fabulous hobby of Mail-Art. This book has articles on how to create Artist Trading Cards, How to package your art to Mail, how to host/participate in Mail-Art Swaps, and more!! This book also includes a Glossary of Mail-Art Terms and is abundant in beautiful examples of mail art by a variety of artists."

So. Much. Eye candy.  I find myself flipping through just to drool over the other art included in the book.  It's definitely worth a look.
If you would like to see a preview, or purchase a copy, it is available in her lulu store here.

Hello!

I finally decided to take the plunge and create an account on blogspot.  I made a Flickr, thinking that it would suffice, but the lack of comment space doesn't really appeal to me. I figure this will work out better for what I want to do. :)

So, what do I want to do?  I want an area to post my art progress, successes, and sometimes failures; I wouldn't mind some comments here and there either.

This seems to be the perfect place to do it.
